Bang Pa In was King Chulalongorn’s Palace. Ii is about 10km from Ayuthaya. Much of the grounds were influenced by French design as were some of the palaces. However, one palace was given by the Chinese and it has a distinct Chinese design.
One cannot visit Paris and not see the sites that have made Paris famous. Of course all have seen these pictures so I would guess these are really more for me. I hope you enjoy anyway.
While in Paris we stayed at the Hotel St. Merry. It was the presbytery (monk residence) of the St. Merry Church next door. The rooms were furnished with 16th century furniture, wood, wrought iron and stone walls.
Below is a picture of the St. Merry Church.
The church and hotel located in Marais, a lively district on the right bank of the Seine River about five blocks from Notre Dame Cathedral and ten blocks from the Lourve.
Aaron ran in his Cub Scout Pack’s Pinewood Derby this year. Being his first year he decided to learn about the science behind building a fast car. How to efficiently convert potential energy into kinetic energy. He strategically designed the car to reduce wind resistance, placed the weights to optimize potential energy, polished his axles to minimize friction, set the wheels at their optimal positions and tested a top secret graphite lubricating system he made.
On April 5, 2015, Aaron made his mother a birthday dinner. He set the table, made dessert, a salad, corn and crab cakes. The dinner was absolutely delicious! Happy Birthday Mom.
Aaron, Pannee and I took a ride down to Washington D.C. yesterday to see the Cherry Blossom Festival. We drove to Greenbelt and then took the subway to avoid all of the traffic. That worked out pretty well. Had lunch at Pauls– where they have the best bread this side of the Atlantic, well may south of New York. It did take over an hour to get the sandwiches, which was not what we were expecting. In any case we stopped by the National Archives so Aaron could see the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution. We then took a walk around the Mall to see the cherry blossoms. They were beautiful, but not quite as abundant as in previous years. It also didn’t help that the Mall was under construction (until 2017). Aaron always like to run around the Mall.
Later that evening we watched National Treasures, which Aaron really liked as the movies went to most of the places Aaron has been in the last year- National Archives; Independence Hall; Trinity Church, NY; and North Church in Boston.
